As a Phone Device

Can I use this as an every day mobile phone?

Yes you can. Since the platform is based off of the Openmoko project, there is a large support base that offers multiple front end UI's for the flash ROM phone base.

Will this phone work on CDMA networks such as Sprint or Verizon in the U.S.?

No. It only supports GSM carriers that utilize SIM cards.

Which phone distribution do you recommend for the phone UI?

We recommend using the official Openmoko distribution, which is currently 2008.2, however none of the distributions will affect the NeoPwn filesystem.

As a Pwn Device

Does the NeoPwn really run a full Linux operating system?

Yes. We have developed a custom kernel and filesystem based off of Debian Lenny and have optimized it for the hardware platform and have created module support for many devices.

The isn't a hardware QWERTY keyboard; how can I type on it?

We have configured an open source, full QWERTY touchscreen keyboard that can be used with a stylus. Our initial feedback shows that it is more usable then the iPhone and Nokia N-series' touchscreen keyboards.

Doesn't typing on a touchscreen make it difficult to enter complex command strings to the terminal interface?

Not really. We have worked hard to create automated scripts for the end user to perform many of the tasks needed to automate tasks, such as hardware control, application launching, and automated pentesting.

But this is a phone right? There isn't any way this can penetration test.

Yes, this is a phone, and it is quite capable of performing many of the same network auditing and penetration tests that a mobile notebook can.

Which USB Wifi card can I use with the distro?

Any USB wifi card you like that is supported on the Aircrack-ng compatibility list! We have worked hard to port driver module support for the supported cards.

What is the average time it takes to crack a WEP encrypted network with the NeoPwn?

Our benchmark is a little over 5 minutes with a connected client, and about 14 minutes on a clientless network.

Can I use the NeoPwn to crack WPA networks?

You can capture the WPA handshake with the NeoPwn, however we do not support the use of WPA cracking directly on the device.

What if I want to install other auditing software on the NeoPwn?

By all means, do so! Since it is open source, we have included the necessary build tools to compile directly on the device (minus kernel headers).

Which Linux kernel does the NeoPwn use?

We use a 2.6.24 kernel.
